In\ntoday\u2019s discussion, Grady Leonard, Mike Tresoikas, and I discussed the idea\nthat the \u201cteacher knows everything, and the students know nothing.\u201d In the\nmodern classroom, to be a teacher you must have a college degree and we all\nagreed that even though students do not have a degree whilst the teacher does,\nthat doesn\u2019t mean the teacher cannot learn lessons from the students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teachers\nhave experienced life longer than the students, but each bring different life\nexperiences to apply in the classroom. When students enter classrooms, it is\nthe stereotypical thought of the teacher that their students have no knowledge\nfor what is to be taught, and that\u2019s not always the case. As humans, we\u2019re\nalways evolving, and the new generations need to teach the older generations\nthe new ways and concepts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\nreally liked mike\u2019s analogy that being book smart or street smart is just like\nthe teacher who knows everything, and the student knows nothing idea. The\nteachers are the ones who are book smart while the students are the ones who\nare street smart. The teachers need the students to help them navigate through\nthe new and modern ways the student\u2019s generation brings; however, the students\nneed teachers to teach them knowledge of the past generations and their\nexperiences to prepare them for life in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In\nconclusion, we all agreed that the idea that \u201cthe teacher knows everything, and\nthe students know nothing\u201d is just a stereotype of society by older\ngenerations. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
