Writing project #1 – Weekly Writing & Blogs

Writing project #1

Topic: Topic 3 Teacher student relationships at wcu

Thesis: Freire states that learning has a lot to do with a teacher and student and teacher relationship, here at WCU these relationships can be transformed through better communication, understanding students’ interests, and getting to know each other better.

Two quotes from Freire:

“The oppressed are regarded as the pathology of the healthy society, which must therefore adjust these “incompetent and lazy” folk to its own patterns by changing their mentality. These marginals need to be “integrated,” “incorporated” into the healthy society that they have “forsaken.”” Page 2 P3

“the teacher chooses and enforces his choice, and the students comply” Page 1 bullet point F

Positive: I agree with your ideas that relationships can be formed through better communication and just getting to know the students in general. The second quote you selected was a good choice for this topic and what you are trying to get across.

Negative: I think you should explain how the relationships will be transformed. Also, how it will improve the lives of the students.

  2. I think your thesis is a good start to your ideas that will be talked about in your essay.
Your first quote is good, but I would recommend looking for a stronger quote that yo can use throughout your entire essay that connects to the students interests or the actual relationship between a teacher and a student.
